Cities and Culture
Cities
Not far away you can visit Kortrijk. In the historical centre you will find the beguinage (UNESCO-World heritage), the famous Broeltorens, the new borders of the river Leie. The centre of Kortijk is certainly worth a visit, with a lot of possibilities, shopping centre as well as historical buildings.
A little further you can find Ieper and it's surroundings. Museums about the war, war cemeteries and the beautifull central Market are worldfamous. Also think about the Meningate and the dayly Last Post. You will be dragged back into time.
Cities like Oudenaarde, Roeselare, Diksmuide, Veurne, Gent, Brugge, Rijsel (Fr.), Doornik, Oostende,... are, thanks to our central location, quick and easy to reach.
Museums
In Deerlijk there is the René De Clercq Museum. And some museums in the area: Texture (Kortrijk), Kortrijk 1302, Het Lijsternest (Ingooigem), HIPPO.WAR (Waregem),...
About the war
In Waregem you will find the Flanders Field American Cemetery with visitor centre, the only Amarican cemetery from WOI in Belgium.
Ieper and surroundings breath the history of the war. Lots of Museums (Flanders Field in Ieper, Memorial Museum Passchendaele) en cemeteries (the impressive Tyne Cot in Passendale).
In Diksmuide there are the Museum at the Ijzer-river and the Ijzertower to visit.
